High School

High School

Like the Junior school, the High school curriculum is based on the National, International and French curricula.  As a bilingual international school, the curriculum of the High school aims to fully equip students with complete fluency in both English and French, to enable them gain admission into any English or French University without any language barriers.

French as a language receives equal number of teaching hours as English and students take various French international examinations in preparation for post-high school education or jobs.

The subjects offered in the first three years of high school are as follows:

  • English
  • French
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • History
  • Geography
  • Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
  • Art
  • Design & technology
  • Physical Education
  • Public Speaking
  • Religious Studies (covering major religions in the world)

Once the students progress into forms 4, 5 and 6, the subjects they learn are divided into three streams; Arts, Science and Commerce.  These  include:

  • Physics,
  • Chemistry
  • Biology
  • Additional/Pure Mathematics
  • Sociology
  • Accounting
  • Business Studies
  • Economics

A selection of the above subjects is learnt (depending on the stream a student chooses), in addition to some of the core subjects (Maths, English, French etc.) covered in the first three years of High school.

Students are registered for the Cambridge IGCSE examination at form 5, from where they will proceed to the Advanced Levels (Form 6 & 7)

SBEC hopes to produce holistically nurtured bilingual students who have acquired a solid foundation to shine in post-secondary or University education.  Furthermore, SBEC aims to produce competent citizens who will add great value for national development, while upholding and respecting the values, cultures and traditions of their respective countries and the world at large.
